The movie Vyöhyke - Zone is inspired by the book RoadSide Picnic by Arkady & Boris Strugatsky. More information on the book in Wikipedia. The idea of this film has formed over many years and when the time and resources were there we grasped the task.
Corruption and crime flourish in the Zone Border Guard Forces, an independent subdivision of the Finnish Defence Forces. For over twenty years the Zone Border Guard Forces have watched over the Zone borders. Now the times are about to change and that requires desperate measures.
Stalkers are a dying breed, the youth doesn't dare and the old are fading fast. In addition when the Zone Border Guard Forces cut corners less and less of the caught stalkers are actually arrested and put in to prison...
